2 NATO Soldiers Are Killed in Afghanistan - New York Times: "KABUL, Afghanistan, Oct. 14 — NATO reported that two of its soldiers died in combat in Kandahar Province on Saturday, and a bomb struck a provincial governor’s convoy east of Kabul, the capital, narrowly missing him, Afghan officials said.
One provincial official was killed in the ensuing gun battle with militants.
A news agency reported that Taliban rebels had claimed responsibility for the attack, aimed at Gov. Gulab Mangal of Laghman Province. It was the latest of a string of such attacks against the country’s civilian administrators in recent weeks.
Separately, six men working for American forces on Afghanistan’s eastern border were killed Friday by a roadside bomb on their return from delivering aid to a village.
On Saturday, NATO forces and the Afghan police killed one man and arrested nine others suspected of involvement in recent bomb attacks southeast of Kabul, a NATO press release said."
